HELP - Cross Compliance

The Single Payment Scheme (SPS) replaced most of the previous crop and livestock payments from 1st january 2005. There is no longer a link between production and support.

Instead, to receive payments, the farmer is asked to demonstrate that they are keeping their land in Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition (GAEC) and complying with a number of specified legal requirements relating to the environment, public health, animal health and welfare, and livestock identification and tracing (SMR's)

Meeting these requirements is described in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) legisltation as "Cross Compliance".

Many of the requirements reinforce existing legal requirements, and for these you are not required to do anything new.
